Horse Calmer
When a horse is excitable or stressed, it uses up its ready available store of magnesium in the hind gut very rapidly. When this happens, the adrenaline levels become more pronounced. By topping up the magnesium levels, it allows the horse to have access to a ready available amount, which in turn keeps the animal more relaxed.
Approximate feeding guide, for excitable or stressed horses weighing 500Kg. If the horse only gets excitable or stressed in a competition or work environment, feed approx 65 grams in a small dampened feed 1 ½ hours before the competition. For horses/ ponies under 300 Kg, give approximately 36 grams. Remove or give very little hay after administering the powder on the competition morning. The powder can be diluted in water and given orally via a syringe if the horse will not eat it in a feed. Dilution rate. 18 grams to 25ml water. In the first instance, it is better to feed over the stated amount, than under, so it is safe to feed 65 to 90 grams of Mag-Restor to a horse of 400 to 600 kg. 500 Kg = 1,100 pounds If the horse is excitable or stressed under normal conditions, e.g. in the stable or travelling, it maybe necessary to feed the powder at a rate of 100 grams daily for 5 days, and then reduce to 18 grams daily, then boost up to the 54 grams 1 ½ hrs prior to an event. Some horses respond on lesser amounts than 65 grams prior to an event. The range of amounts can be anything from 36 to 65 grams, dependent on body weight, individuals make up, temperament and circumstances. The above amount of bio available magnesium will be used up by the horse in around 3 hours of hard work. 1 X level 50ml scoop weighs approximately 18 grams. Horse/ponies prone to TYING UP Feeding guide similar to above, add 18 grams at periods through out the ride, dependent on how far and how hard the ride is, or feed 18 grams per day on a daily basis. Horses living constantly on grass, may require larger amounts of Mag-Restor to be effective as a calmer. Introduce gradually into a dampened feed, maybe ½ a scoop or less to start with. Also the powder may be diluted in water at a rate of 25ml water to 18 grams of powder, then administer orally with a syringe. 28 grams = 1 oz Warning. This product is not a cure or treatment for any mentioned ailments, but a dietary aid. Always dampen feed and do not allow the powder to enter the airways and drinking water is always available. On a maintenance amount of 18 grams per day, 5 Kg lasts 277 days. Do not give to horses that have any kidney or urinary problems, as excess magnesium is excreted via the urinary tract.

Maneline has been a lifeline !!! After trying many Calming products on the market for my Welsh Section D, I thought I was never going to capture his spirit combined with his extravagant action needed for the show ring. After a phenomenal first year after being broken we had great hopes for our Horse. He won many Novice Affiliated shows and Championships and at the end of the season was at the top in the Open classes. Through the winter he became more mature, stronger and a lot more spirited. This year as a 5 yr old he came out like a loaded gun (exploding more than once !) and we had to retire him from the show ring on more than one occasion due to his behaviour. I telephoned Venetia at Maneline to ask if she would judge a show for me and after chatting about the horses and my Welsh Cob she suggested that I tried the Mag-Restor. True to her word it arrived the next day and we haven't looked back since. The first time in the ring after using Mag-Restor the horse became more manageable and a pleasure to ride and we are now pushing onwards and upwards Thank you so much Maneline for creating a palatable powder which really works and has certainly restored normality back into my horse. My horse is a 17.2 thoroughbred mare that is genrally a calm horse but she can become over sensitive in certain situations and become really tense and very sharp. In fact she lives on a very short fuse in certain situations. I know thooughbreds are often more sharper than most but I am also familair with them and consider this mare to be maybe a little over the edge. Along with this she used to suffer from frequent bouts of colic. After veterinary tests and various different feeds and routine we have eventually found a routine and feeding regime which suits her and she does not suffer anymore. However the cause to her colic was found to be mild sugar intolerence so she is also basically treated as if she were a laminitic pony. (I would also like to add that any kind of feed balancer containing either pro or pre biotics or yeast coultures are not suitable for her and increase the activity of her gut too much.) i.e very limited turnout in the spring and summer plus restricted turnout all year round due to very good grazing at the livery yard where she is kept. She is also given antacids to keep her gut stable. I did some research regarding magnesium and found that given her siutation and symptoms I thought it would be very beneficial for her. Also she does sweat quite a lot even at this time of year and she is clipped too. Many thanks, Jeanette
Thought I would give you some feedback from using the Mag Restor. It has made an amazing difference to my horse, she is completely chilled out and like a different horse. This morning for example people were in the stable next door but one to her drilling holes in the wall putting up a hay rack and she couldn't care less. One other thing I noticed as well is that she seems more supple and loose and relaxed in her work. She performed the best I have ever seen her move today and with a relaxed attitude too (possibly due to relaxed tense free muscles). I played about with the amounts a little to see what suited her and I am giving her 1 and 1/2 level scoops twice per day as a maintenance measure. This seems to suit her best. If I were contemplating taking her to her first competition I would increase it a little to be on the safe side though. I have tried a few other calmers with very little or no effect. I have tried other magnesium calmers too as I was convinced that this is what she needed however maybe the actual magnesium content in other products is not as high as your own. Many many thanks, Jeanette
We have introduced mag-restor as part of our weaning programme and found it to be highly beneficial. We have also used it when breaking and training young thoroughbred colts, we find them calmer, more settled and more supple. Trudy Goulding. End House Stud.
Welsh Cob, 5 years, 14.2hh Weight approximately 500 Kg (NERVOUS) Became nervous to shoe. Given 72 grams 1 ½ hours prior to shoeing, no hay after being given the Mag-Restor. Result: Horse stayed settled, calm and easy to shoe.
Thoroughbred, 5 years, 16.1 hh Weight approximately 450 Kg (TENSE AND EXCITABLE) General fitness work and galloping tense and gets worked up, to a point of knocking itself and generally causing itself minor injuries. Started Mag-Restor 4 weeks ago, fed 36 grams daily for 7 days and now maintained on 18 grams daily. Result: Has become quieter in itself and now much easier to work on the gallops. Also has stopped causing itself minor injuries.
Pony, 4 years 13.3hh Weight approximately 400 Kg (NAPPING) Recently broken, riding on well. 4 weeks after returning to inexperienced owner, started to resist leaving the field and spinning around. Then ridden by the person who broke the pony, who sorted the problem, taking only one occasion to do so. The pony then behaved perfectly for 3 days with the owner, and then reverted back to his napping . Given 54 grams of Mag-Restor 1 ½ hours prior to being ridden. Result: Made no difference to the pony’s behaviour.
15.2hh ¾ bred coloured mare 7 years. Weight approximately 550kg (GREEN & ATTACHED TO OTHER HORSES) Broken at 4, never properly weaned from mother, mostly worked in company or in an outside arena. Lacked confidence when ridden on its own, especially when hacking alone, apt to stop & spin around very quickly. Also did not travel well alone. Given 90 grams and hay removed 1 ½ hours prior to loading in a trailer. Result: Arrived at destination perfectly calm & settled and was then hacked out alone 2 hours later without any problems.
