Laminitis
As magnesium is known to help break down sugar levels in the blood and promote circulation, it is very helpful in preventing a reoccurrence of laminitis.
Also as it is known to work on the central nervous system it also helps to relax muscles, which is beneficial in preventing the stiffness also associated with laminitis.
Mag-Restor Feeding Guide for the dietary management of horses prone to Laminitis This product is most effective after the acute stages of laminitis has been treated and the horse or pony is ready to be returned to grazing. Or start feeding prior to the grass growing season.
Once a horse has built a sufficient store, they may be reduced to a daily maintenance level of 18 grams per day, dependent on management, feeding and exercise status. To help in the management of horse/ponies prone to laminitis, the amount can be increased or decreased dependent on circumstances and grass intake, if turning out on richer grass or for longer periods, or frosty grass, increase the Mag-Restor. It is safe to exceed the estimated amount by 50 to100% . Approximate Feeding Guide. Most horses and ponies respond to a similar amount, as native ponies will utilize the magnesium in a different way. Give 2 level scoops per day for 6/7 days, and then reduce to 1 level scoops per day. If a rush of grass growth should occur, or a frost, which raises the sugar level of the grass, increase to 1.5 or 2 scoops per day until the grass becomes stable again. If your horse exceeds 500 Kg body weight, we suggest a staring amount of 3 level scoops per day for 6/7 days. 1 X 50ml level scoop, gives approximately 18 grams, which equals 1.8 grams of pure highly absorbable magnesium. Introduce gradually into a dampened feed, maybe ½ a scoop or less to start with Also the powder may be diluted in water at a rate of 25ml water to 18 grams of powder, then administer orally with a syringe. 28 grams = 1 oz Approximate feeding guide for the improvement of feet and barefoot horses. Give 2 level scoops per day for 6 days, then reduce to one level scoop per day.
WARNING This product is not a cure or treatment for any mentioned ailments, but a dietary aid. Always dampen feed and do not allow the powder to enter the airways. For help or advice on the feeding and uses of Mag-Restor, please do not hesitate to contact: MANELINE. + 44 (0) 1278 671154

Well this was how I first came to hear about the stuff. My name is Mark Johnson. I am a UK registered farrier whose business is steadily turning towards de shoeing horses. Whether shod or not diet plays a fundamental role in the health of the horses hoof. Without correct dietary help all shoeing & trimming in my view will have limited use It appears that magnesium is (or more to the point should be) an essential mineral available to all, but our land steadily becomes more and more deficient. The ramifications of this to our horses feet is that the enzyme activity controlling the basal membrane in the hoof, break down showing us signs of flare and epidermal lamina protruding through the white zone. Through the feeding of maneline's Mag-restore, it has been possible to return much higher levels of soundness and integral structure than I was able to do without the additive. My advice would be to do your own research on magnesium and don't forget the human benefits as well Happy hoof care! Mark
"My child's 10 yr old welsh pony was suffering from acute laminitis despite a strict management regime, frequent stable confinement and ongoing veterinary treatment. It reached the point of making a heartbreaking decision, and in a final last attempt to give this pony quality of life started to add Mag-Restor as a daily feed supplement. This pony has been on 20g of Mag-Restor per day for three months, and now leads a normal life on grass. He no longer runs to fat, and is sound 90% of the time. When not fully sound, he no longer ties up or exhibits the usual signs of stress associated with laminitis. Neither has it been necessary to administer the usual pain relief and anti-inflammatories during the peak summer months. I have been so impressed by this supplement and its cost effectiveness, that I have placed my 14 year old mare on the same. She is also prone to laminitis and has been on a well known imported product to guard against reoccurrence, at an approximate cost of £1 per day. She has been on 40g per day of Mag-Restor for one month now, and it has been reported that she has never looked so well." Tracy Stote, Somerset.
